Objective:

This conference provides a forum for active researchers to discuss state-of-the-art
developments and results in theoretical and computational acoustics and related topics.
The conference will bring together researchers from different areas of science related to
acoustics to exchange new ideas and to stimulate future research in such fields as:

  • Computational aero-, seismo-, and ocean-acoustics, hydroacoustics,
    bioengineering acoustics, nonlinear acoustics, structural acoustics, scattering
    and inverse problems;
  • Multidimensional wave propagation modeling: grid methods (spectral, FD, FEM,
    FV, BIE, BEM, etc.), ray techniques, symbolic methods, ODE methods,
    supercomputing and parallel methods;
  • Wave propagation in borehole, rocks, fluid-solid interfaces, anisotropic media,
    viscoelastic, porous and fractured media, as well as random media;
  • Ultrasonic wave propagation and nondestructive testing;
  • Application of neural networks to acoustics;
  • Computational and experimental seismology;
  • Shallow water acoustics and environmental/bottom parameter extraction;
  • Global acoustics and large-scale monitoring;
  • Acoustic tomography and full-field inversion;
  • Real applications, experimental results, and data compression.

Sponsors:

This conference is sponsored by the U.S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC),
Columbia University, Yale University, Office of Naval Research, SOEST, University of
Hawaii, Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale (OGS), Italy,
and the Hangzhou Applied Acoustics Research Institute, China, and Key Laboratory of
Geophysical Exploration, CNPC, China. (Additional sponsors will be announced at a
later date.)

Interested authors are invited to submit abstracts (either via e-mail or by hard copy)
to the NUWC Point-Of-Contact before the abstract deadline November 1, 2002.

Lodging:

The beautiful Sheraton Waikiki Hotel has been chosen as the location for the Sixth
International Conference on Theoretical & Computational Acoustics. This is the second
time that the ICTCA has chosen the Sheraton Waikiki -- a self-contained resort and
conference center. The Sheraton Waikiki is located on the beach and offers a
fascinating assortment of restaurants, shops, activities, and entertainment.

The Sheraton Waikiki Hotel is offering a special room rate (in U.S. dollars) to

to single and double occupancy. Triple rate is $45 additional daily; quad rate is $90
additional daily; no additional charge for children 17 years and younger using existing
bedding and sharing the same room with parents (please advise ages of children when
making a reservation). Manor Wing rooms are in a separate annex from the main
building. Manor Wing rooms are smaller in size, have no view or balconies, and cannot
